biosphere 2025

Biosphere (2024 and 2025) Silver, glass, living organic material, 3 different plants, air, oxygen, water, charcoal. All the classical elements of air, earth, fire, and water come together in these miniature biospheres.

The first one was created in 2024. I sealed the glass lid with glue on December 12th. There’s a small cap hidden inside the ring that allows me to add or release water if needed. I think only the mosses have survived until 2026.The mosses had completely taken over the biosphere. I’m fascinated by these small-scale ecosystems; how plants grow, die, and adapt to difficult environments. Some plants struggle to grow in harsh conditions, while others thrive, forming beautiful, fuzzy green spheres.
